Gel candles are slowly gaining ground in the candle industry, all because its material is much preferred as compared to paraffin candles. The process of making gel candles is also easy to learn. In fact, you just have to consider the fundamentals and make few candle batches.

For beginners, gel candles appear as fun and unique items. Their distinct beauty keeps these gel candles apart from other candle items. Its rubbery form and gel-like texture makes it more special once lit. More so, even common housewives and lay men find these candles appealing.

For those who want to learn the steps in making gel candles, kindly refer to the following:

1.	Melt the gel wax. In making gel candles, you have to equip yourself with the basic items. Use a glass measuring cup in melting the wax. Heat the gel for about one hour at 225 degrees. Be more consistent in determining actual temperature through the help of a candy thermometer. Patience is also a requirement since gel waxes melt slower as compared to paraffin.

2.	Add fragrance. Choose different fragrance oils for variety. The usual ratio between fragrance and gel wax is approximately one half ounce of fragrance oil, per one pound of gel. Make suitable adjustments in terms of adding scents and fragrances. It is also imperative to add the scent first in making gel candles.

3.	Proceed with the color. Various types of candle dye can be used. Choices include liquid and dye block. In adding your desired tint or hue, it is best to go for popular and refreshing colors such as green, blue and yellow. Be reminded that in making gel candles, what matters is creating an ensemble of great colors and you can always experiment by mixing and matching regular with secondary hues.

4.	Embedding is probably a key element in gel candle making. These pertain to the most common yet beautiful accents that naturally add up to the value of the gel candles itself. Commonly used items are glitters, seashells, petals and wax embeds.

5.	There are certain types of wicks especially made for gel candles. They come in either pre-tabbed or pre-waxed choices. First, you need to secure the wicks using a dab of hot gel, and then place them at the bottom of your candle containers.

Make sure that in making gel candles, you are prepared with all the essentials and basic items. Try to come up with a few pieces before producing massive amounts of candles. It is also best to try the susceptibility of gel wicks in relation to heat.

For many, learning how to make gel candles serves them well. Not only are they in for a wonderful treat, but they are also into something profitable and productive. The popularity of gel or jelly candles is very apparent, due to its distinct look and appeal. Plus, with the emergence of home decorating and interior designing, candles are deemed perfect as ornaments.

In trying how to make gel candles, you will need the following items. You have to have a large glass or measuring cup, metal spoons, cooking pots, knife, and glass containers. Part of your must-haves also includes a candy thermometer, candle gel, candle dye, pre-tabbed wicks and candle scent.

First, you need to fill the pot about halfway with water. Heat it until it simmers. You can now start cutting the candle gel in small pieces and place them all in your measuring cup or Pyrex. For color, you can now add your candle dye. You do not have to put so much as a little amount of dye is already enough.

Second, place your measuring cup into the pot with simmering water. Clip your candy thermometer inside the measuring cup and heat the mixture until it reaches 225 degrees. Remember to stir the mixture occasionally to avoid the gel from burning. Also, it is advisable not to over stir.

In learning how to make gel candles, it is important to prepare your molds and containers properly. Make sure that each mold is clean. Dip your pre-tabbed wicks in the melted gel mixture and gently place them at the center of each mold. Hold it in place and allow the gel to set first. In this way, you are certain that the wicks are kept straight.

When the candle gel has finally melted, you can now pour the mixture into prepared molds and containers. Leave about half an inch of space from the rim. Allow the candles to set. The time required does vary, depending on the size of candles itself.

Remember that in trying how to make gel candles, the best way to go would be constant practice. Do not be discouraged by initial mistakes. Try to start by making small candle batches. Do not go beyond your means. If you feel that you are good enough, that’s the time when you can start experimenting with colors or scents. It is also the perfect time to achieve certain designs or themes. For eventually, you will learn how to be bolder and bigger with your design and color choices.

As compared to ordinary candles, gel candles are slowly attracting the attention of candle enthusiasts and hobbyists. Generally, these candles are quite similar with other types of candles. However, the materials involved do differ. In order to make gel candles, it is significant that you know the nature of the raw material. Unlike wax candles, these types of candles are made from high-percentage mineral oil and a little bit of polymer resin.

In addition, gel wax is classified into three density states namely low, medium and high. Density is often referred to as the state wherein gel waxes can accommodate or tolerate the level of used oil. For instance, the higher the density, the higher the amount of oil that you can use. However, this may lead to thicker gel candles, which in turn are harder to melt and pour.

The same steps are also advised if you want to make gel candles at home. First, you have to prepare the materials namely the gel, wick, containers, fragrance oils and dye. Second, melt the gel using a double boiler or multi-cooker. There is hardly any difference when it comes to using the double-boiler as melting equipment. However, other hobbyists prefer using the multi-cooker as they can directly place the gel inside it and wait for such to melt.

Third, while melting your gel, it is important to avoid using wooden spatulas or stirrers. This is to avoid bubbles from appearing in your finished gel candles. Preferred tools would be plastic or metal stirrers. More so, it is best to buy a thermometer to determine the right amount of temperature while melting the gel.

Fourth, in order to make gel candles, you need to think of bright and pleasant colors. You can always start with white, blue, yellow or green. Using a liquid dye deems fit for gel candles, as it is easier to incorporate in the melted gel mixture. Fifth, adding a fragrance or scent of your choice is also a likely step, since it will enhance the quality of your gel candles. Lastly, it is imperative to cool the candles after pouring the mixture into prepared molds or containers. Suggested time varies but what’s important is that you ensure that the mixture has totally set.

To make gel candles is actually easy. There are so many mediums to work with if you are bent on learning the skill. You can start asking friends or close peers. Think of people who are actually in the candle making business. Either way, what you will learn will help you in developing your interest and passion for what is considered the art of candle making.

The scent of burning and aromatic candles soothes your senses like no other. This is further complemented by a view that captures your inner thoughts and most serene dreams. Since making gel candles is a hit nowadays, there is no better way to experience said ambience but to create these lovely scents yourself.

Not many people know this, but candle making is naturally an art. It can also be acquired as a hobby. Does not know how to start? How about taking a quick workshop by reading the following steps?

In making those beautiful and lovely-colored gel candles, you need to have the following materials. First, you will need gel, wicks, color dye and essential fragrances. It is also an option to prepare other essential oils like lavender but for beginners, it is advisable to start and keep up with just the basics.

Second, in making gel candle, you have to make sure that you have an appropriate space for said work. Aside from this, sourcing out your materials online is a nice prerogative. You can always rely on gel candle making kits, as these items usually aid novices in making gel candle.

Third, find a suitable container. The best choice would be glass containers. This is because gel candles usually have embeds in them. Others also make use of wine glasses or hollow vases. Where can you shop these great finds? Possible sources are thrift shops and garage sales.

Fourth, in making gel candle, you can start by placing glue onto the container’s bottom. Carefully place the wick and let it set for a couple of minutes. Melt the gel and add your desired color. Once this is achieved, you can now proceed with the oil or fragrance.

Fifth, pour the gel mixture into the glass container. Make sure you do this slowly as the mixture is really hot. To keep the wick straight, you can roll it up using a pencil while pouring the gel. Let your gel candle cool for awhile and then you can trim the wick afterwards. Now, you are done with your first gel candle.

Remember that in making gel candle, caution and instructions are of great importance. Maintaining the proper temperature in melting the gel is also required. You have to remember that you need to melt your gel and reach the ideal temperature of 200 degrees Fahrenheit. You can only achieve this by buying a thermometer, as having the right temperature affects the quality of your product.

Gel candles are growing in popularity. They work the same as regular wax candles in the respect that they will burn in the same way that wax candles burn but they are made a little differently.

Wax candles are made from oil. The same is true with gel candles but they are made of 95% mineral oil and 5% polymer resin. The resin starts out as a powder but when it is mixed with the mineral oil it is transformed into a solid state. Gel wax comes in three different states: high density, medium density, and low density. The higher the density, the more fragrance the oil can hold. Plus, the thicker gel will hold the suspended decorations with in the candle. But, keep in mind that the thicker gel takes longer to meld and it is harder to pour.

The steps that go into making a candle out of regular wax such as melting the wax and pouring it in a mold to dry are the same steps you need to do in making gel candles. But, the equipment you use and the techniques are slightly different. With other types of candle wax most people use a double boiler to melt the wax. But, trying to melt gel wax in a double boiler would take way too long. Some gel candle makers have turned to multi-cookers to get the job done. A multi-cooker is kind of like a deep fryer. They typically are metal with a non-stick coating. They have a separate heating element with a temperature dial so you can get the proper temperature to melt the gel wax. Rather then using two separate pots one with water and one to melt the wax in, the gel wax is placed directly in the multi-cooker to melt. Although the multi-cooker comes with a temperature dial, it is still a good idea to use a separate thermometer to make sure that the gel is melted at the proper temperature. Use something metal or hard plastic to stir the gel wax. Wooden spoons can sometimes add bubbles to the gel. The most important thing to remember is that gel candle wax can catch fire. Make sure you have a chemical fire extinguisher near by.

It is also possible to change the color of the gel candle wax by using dyes. Liquid candle dyes are perfect for gel candles because they can maintain the translucency of the gel. It only takes a very small amount of the dye to actually change the color of the wax. Sometimes even a drop of dye is too much. You should never use crayons, clothing dye, food coloring, or soap dyes in gel candle wax. They will no burn right because they are not made specifically for candles.

Learning how to make gel candles is fast and easy. There are so many possibilities when it comes to creating wonderful candles with gel wax. The best thing about gel candles is that you can add decorations directly to the wax so that they float within the candle. This is a clever and unique way to personalize a gift if you are making the candle for someone else. Plus, gel candles burn slower then regular wax candles so they will last a little longer.
